Tear-out... I HATE IT! Just when thin, wispy shavings are coming nicely out of the plane tear-out rears its nasty head. For those of you who might be new to the evils of tear-out, it is when the fibers of the wood are pulled and broken free and not cleanly sliced. The result is a rough, cratered surface that, at times, is not easily repaired. This is a nasty case of tear-out and will take some effort to correct. I will add some pictures detailing the fix in the next entry. |
